Coyote Baseball Instructors offer 1 on 1 lessons that last 30 to 60 minutes per session for baseball and softball.  Please use the links beside the coaches names to email the instructor of your choosing to find their availability and prices.

 

Baseball

Drew Miller Program Director / Coach  

Drew has played 12 seasons of professional season with three teams. Finished his playing career with the newly formed Trois-Riviere Aigles, where he reached career goals of 1000 professional hits and 100 professional home runs. Played seven years with the Calgary Vipers and in which he held almost all career batting records including single season home runs(21) and RBIs(89). In 2009 Drew was named a Golden Baseball League All-Star and led Calgary to their first ever professional baseball championship. In 2007 Miller was a Northern League All-Star and in 2006 he was named the Vipers Most Outstanding Player. From 2002 to 2004 Miller played for the Richmond Roosters in Indiana. Helping them to repeat as league champs in 2002. He was also named to the All-Star team in 2004. Miller attended Eastern Oklahoma State Junior college for 2 years before transferring to Oklahoma Baptist University where he was named All-Conference, All-Region and Honorable mention All-American in both years playing there. Miller has coached many levels which include assistant coach in University, coaching all levels in Australia while playing, many all-star teams from Medicine Hat and Calgary. He was also part of the coaching staff that took a Canada U12 team to the Cal Ripken World series in 2012 and 2015. Drew has been honored as the tenth best player to play in Calgary alongside players like Edgar Martinez and Alex Rodriguez. Drew was also named in 2017 to the 150 best baseball players to have played in Alberta.

Roberto Valdez Coach  

Roberto is the first Coyote graduate to come back and work full time with our program. He followed a successful youth baseball life with Cal West LL, Alberta Cal Ripken, and Coyote Baseball, with an outstanding tenure at J Dawgs Academy in Okotoks. A winner throughout his playing career, Coach Valdez has played in a CAN LL championship game, represented Alberta in Babe Ruth Regionals, won a Canadian Championship in Midget AAA Baseball, and played for Canada at the Cal Ripken World Series.
Roberto played at Thompson Rivers University, in Kamloops, where he earned 2nd team All-Conference honors. He also had the chance to play baseball in the Dominican Republic after college and he brings a mature and strong coaching style to the Coyote Baseball staff.

Ramon Valdez Coach 

 Ramon Valdez played for the Okotoks Dawgs Academy and Team Alberta (elite provincial team) through high school. One year at JUCO power Parkland CC (where he was an All-Conference catcher, and earned All Region Academic honors) followed by three years as starting catcher at Barry University (NCAA Div. II) in Miami, Florida brought more accolades. "Junior" earned team MVP awards, Academic All-American, led his teams in doubles and walks, and was a team captain. An outstanding catcher and hitter throughout his career who has a remarkable teaching skill set, Ramon also possesses a knack for the mental and emotional aspect of player development. Able to instruct in all aspects of the game, Ramon specializes in catchers' development, infield progressions, and future ready hitters' preparation. His lessons will include physical and technical work as well as discussions about approach. His degree in Exercise Physiology (Barry '16) also is a huge asset in player development, utilizing his professional approach to bio mechanics and human movement education.

Alex Regan Coach 

Alex grew up playing baseball in Calgary and then started playing for the Okotoks Dawgs when they moved to Okotoks in 2006 until he graduated High School in 2010. During his time with the Dawgs, he was fortunate enough to play for team Alberta and got to compete in a lot of major tournaments down in the states. After Okotoks he attended the Prairie Baseball Academy in Lethbridge for two years before continuing on to a NCAA D2 powerhouse, University of Mount Olive, NC. During his collegiate career he also played for the Okotoks Dawgs x2(WCBL), Lethbridge Bulls x2 (WCBL), and the Peninsula Pilots (Coastal plain league) After his playing career was over, he spent two years at the Coyote Den, helping out with the school of baseball program. From there he was fortunate enough to Coach with the Cal Ripken program and has coached at the 12U Cal Ripken World Series in Branson Missouri several times.

Symen Gonseneuaskas 

Symen has been in the Calgary Baseball community since he was 6 years old, Starting in Cal East Little League. Symen then went on to play in Babe Ruth Calgary as well as the Prairie Sticks Showcase team. Symen has been a part of Coyote Baseball since 2012 and has been coaching and working at the Den since he was 16 years old. Symen is now a student at Mount Royal University in the Physical Literacy program (kinesiology) and is a full time member of the Alberta Cal Ripken coaching staff. Symen has a great knowledge of the game of baseball, as well as sport performance, and is able is easily connect well with the youth due to his young age but mature mindset. He is able to coach hitting, infield, outfield and catching. In 2023, Symen coached at the Cal Ripken World Series. Symen also runs an off season strength training program, please contact him for options. Symen's ultimate goal is to share and grow his love of Baseball to the Calgary community.

Daniel Concepcion 

Daniel has been playing baseball for thirteen years, including playing for the Okotoks Dawgs for five years, and Strive Baseball for one year. He had the opportunity to play in the Dominican Republic for one year where he picked up a strong work ethic and drive for the game of baseball. Daniel has been coaching for both Coyote Baseball and Alberta Cal Ripken for the past year and is excited to pass down his knowledge to others.
