2017 Spring Performance Program

A high calibre supplementary opportunity for community based players
Eligibility residents of Alberta, ages 10 through 12 (based on age as of April 30, 2017)


  •  20-25 Game Schedule
  • Two tournaments for each team
  • Opportunity to play with age group Selects at a couple of tournaments
  • 3 or 4 games/practices per week
  • Full rules;
  • Ripken diamond (50' / 70')
  • optional training included
  • this is a player tryout league
  • It will run from April to mid July


  • Play and train with high performance players from around Alberta
  • Play "real" baseball
  • Eligibility for ACR Regional Select teams          12U, 11U, 10U
  • Player fee includes all program training times
  • More and better games, longer season

Players will be trained by ACR professional coaching staff, and managed/coached on game days by Ripken volunteer staff. Teams will assembled independently from any geographic boundaries or other jurisdictions.

    With a balanced approach to training, practice and competition, Alberta Cal Ripken Spring Performance Program offers players an opportunity to participate in a system designed to help athletes get better, play with like-minded peers at similar ability levels, and still stay primarily within local areas. Players will be expected to try out and, if selected, will be placed on a team. Players are free to also play within other programs. Register early there will be training opportunities for players who wish to be "best prepared" to be selected to this program


Player Evaluations :         Sat Mar 4th        Sun Mar 5th       EVALUATION FEE- $50pp
                                                            (additional evaluations may be set)

 Team Selections                March 13 thru Mar 16 - 48 to 72 players will be selected              

Program Practices (indoor/outdoor)

  • Starting March 29
  • Batting Practices
  • Bullpen Sessions
  • Defensive Work
  •  Players / teams will be scheduled
  • Timetables will be determined
  • Team coaches working with program staff

  Games on most weekends and some weekday evenings

  Optional Indoor Training Times a weekly skill specific develop session (as per interest and availability) focus on position-specific training


  Teams will be sent to tourneys around Alberta and beyond. On some weekends that we blank out league play, we will also send age group select teams (12U, 11U and 10U) to several tournaments (Spokane; Regina; etc)

 PLAYER FEE - $945 per player

    Includes: spring training; game schedule; optional training; program practices; team hat; team tee shirt; two or three team tournaments (possibly more); eligibility for Summer Select Teams; discount at summer High Performance camps
            Does not include evaluation fee, or tournament travel and accommodations. Some age group select teams may require additional fees.
